The Ames Performing Arts Center is a city-owned performing arts facility located in Burnsville’s urban park, Heart of the City. It is the result of a previous planning effort which studied the need and viability of an arts center outside the Minneapolis/St. Paul core.
The subsequent performing arts facility includes a 1,000-seat theater, a black box theater, and a rehearsal room/performance space. It was designed to accommodate national touring attractions, regional arts companies and local arts groups.
Views to the Heart of the City park and distant Minneapolis skyline can be had from the upper lobby, meeting room and outdoor terrace. The glass-encased columns supporting this lobby include programmable, color LED lighting.
