In 2008, our staff completed a planning study for the City of Blaine that explored a new activity center for older adults. The study included an analysis of their existing building and planning for an expanded facility. The project was put on hold until 2018; 292 was hired to update the planning study and design a new building to replace the existing center.
The resulting 15,000 square foot community center includes a dedicated lounge space and kitchenette, offices, and a conference room for activity center participants. Other spaces are designed for both center participants and community use: a large dining/multipurpose space with seating up to 250, a commercial kitchen, and multi-purpose meeting/activity rooms. The center’s “front porch” welcomes visitors to a warm and comfortable space with views overlooking a mature, wooded park setting.
